Borrow a First Aid Kit
Service

Aid and Assist's Borrow a First Aid Kit Service lends first aid kits to people residing in the Greater Ottawa Area for up to a month at minimal cost. Consider borrowing a kit if you're organizing a trip, event, or outing to help keep you and your community safe!

How it Works

To borrow first aid kit(s), create an account with Aid and Assist. We'll ask for your name, email, and phone number. You will also have the opportunity to add your delivery address(es). Once you've created an account, add the first aid kit(s) you'd like to borrow to your cart and check out. Aid and Assist will process the $25 service fee per first aid kit during check-out. After check-out, you'll receive two emails; a First Aid Kit Contract and Waiver from Adobe for e-signature and a delivery scheduling link, which will both be sent to the email address on file. After you've completed both steps, you can look forward to receiving your first aid kit(s) on the time/date of your choice.

Note: The contract for e-signature is sent manually by the Aid and Assist team. We're looking into automating this, but until we're able to, it may take up to 24 hours to receive it. Apologies for the delay!

After you receive your delivery, you'll receive a Schedule Order Pick-Up email with a new calendar link. When you're ready to return your order, use that calendar link to schedule a pick-up! Order retrievals can be scheduled between 36 hours and two weeks in advance. The address your order is retrieved from does not need to be the same as the address your order is delivered to, but it must be within Aid and Assist's boundaries.

Deliveries and Retrievals

Aid and Assist currently offers the Borrow a First Aid Kit service in Ottawa, Ontario. We deliver first aid kits to, and retrieve first aid kits from, all Ontario regions served by OCTranspo. This boundary may be expanded in the future.

If you reside in Quebec, or outside of the boundary, contact us to discuss potential alternatives.

Costs

As a registered non-profit, we strive to keep prices as low as possible to keep our service accessible to the community. We charge a $25 per kit service fee, regardless of the kit, which provides you with:

  • Delivery of a fully-stocked first aid kit to the address of your choice, at the time of your choice;
  • The first aid kit's retrieval on the day of your choice. First aid kits can be borrowed for a maximum of 30 days; and
  • Up to $5 in free itemized content charges.

To cover the cost of restocking the first aid kits we lend, we charge an itemized content fee. This fee consists of the cost of each item used at (often wholesale) market prices and a 10% shipping/handling fee. If you use more than $5 of supplies, we will charge the fee to your payment method, or deduct it from your e-transfer deposit, within 72 hours of the kits' return to Aid and Assist. We will also provide you with an updated receipt sent to the email address on file.

You can view the inventory of each first aid kit, and each item's cost, in that kit's Rental Store page. Prices are updated every two months.

Please note that clients will be charged the complete cost of a lost or stolen kit.

Payment Methods

Aid and Assist accepts credit, debit, and Interac e-transfer payment options. Payment processes differ between credit card, debit card, and e-transfer.

Credit/Debit Card

You will be charged Aid and Assist's service fee of $25 per kit after placing your order and signing the First Aid Kit Contract and Waiver.

Within 72 hours of returning your first aid kit(s), your credit card / debit card will be charged any itemized content charges (if applicable).

Interac E-transfer

You will be charged a deposit consisting of the full value of the borrowed kit(s), as determined by Aid and Assist, after placing your order and signing the First Aid Kit Contract and Waiver.
